Offering cultural programs and guided tours to learn about Canada’s Inuit peoples, as well as community supported ways to visit all that the arctic has to offer, from the Northern Lights to whale-watching, to polar bear migrations, and more.

Wildlife viewing trips can be complemented with an interactive cultural experience. Typically cultural programs can include the following elements:

  • Community tour by vehicle or on foot with interpretation of the community‚Äôs history and modern lifestyle, with visits to local stores, the High School, two elder artists in their home for storytelling, the Visitor Centre and the Kiluk Sewing Centre.
  • Tupiq program with an educational and entertaining program offering a glimpse into the old days under a caribou skin tent.
  • Short excursions from the community by snowmobile, all terrain vehicle, boat or dog team, depending on the season.
  • Cultural performance by Qaggiqtiit, a professionally trained group of drum dancers, throat singers and other musicians.
  • Samples of traditional meals including tuktu (caribou), muktaaq (beluga whale), and Arctic char.
