Wild Sumatra

Central Sumatra, Indonesia

Wild Sumatra works solely with forest-edge communities in and around the Kerinci Seblat National Park, supporting ecotourism development with the dual goals of providing sustainable income for rural villages and the preservation of the rainforest. Jungle treks are very simple small-group, low-impact hiking and camping expeditions, and cultural tours bring guests up close and personal with local farmers, fisherman, and other locals throughout the Kerinci valley.

When you use Wild Sumatra to trek in Kerinci Seblat National Park, five percent of the total costs of the tours is donated to wild tiger conservation in the National Park, and between 90-100% of money spent stays in the local community (hard to be exact, as unsure where required government taxes and fees end up. It all at least stays within Indonesia for sure).

Additionally, Wild Sumatra runs beautiful social media feeds on Facebook and Instagram, where you can follow the journey and find inspiration for your trek with them.
