Atma is an accelerator for education that has been supporting education NGOs to grow and scale sustainably in their impact. Through the Accelerator, NGOs are guided to plan and implement projects in a more strategic manner. Volunteers assist the NGO on current projects, and that list changes regularly, so check the website for the most updated volunteer openings. This is a perfect position for highly skilled volunteers with an interest in development and a desire to help new NGOs.
Atma supports existing education NGOs, transforming them into sustainable and scalable organizations. By transforming high potentials into high impact organizations, Atma enables them to reach out to more children in need. Every year the organization selects a cohort of organizations to become partners, and provides them with up to three years of holistic consultancy support & management expertise through the Accelerator.
As an NGO accelerator, the organization supports a dizzying array of projects, and that makes this organization unique—volunteers are needed in a broad range of areas. If you’re interested in a career in the development sector, learning how education works at a grassroots level, or simply exploring a new world while meeting inspiring people from around the world, Atma provides a platform to discover what you are capable of accomplishing.
Past volunteers have included consultants, teachers, students, lawyers, doctors, accountants, and even pilots. They have helped in the following areas:
- curriculum development
- designing HR systems and processes
- financial management
- designing marketing campaigns
- website design
- designing and implementing fundraising campaigns
- leadership development
- teacher training
- making videos
- program design and documentation
The organization operates out of operate Mumbai and Pune at present and volunteers will be placed in the location with a volunteer opening that best fits their skills.
Volunteers must commit to a minimum of three months in order for the volunteer and the organization to get the most out of the experience. The first month is one for learning and observation, the second month is for conceptualizing the project with the Atma portfolio organization, and the third month is for executing and finalizing the project.
Volunteers are responsible for their own food and lodging. Atma will help you find affordable accommodation near your placement, and can assist in overcoming some of the hurdles to securing long-term housing (brokers fees).
