eOcambo Volunteer Programs is based in Siem Reap, Cambodia and is part of a dedicated hospitality group that also has a Foundation to assist with breaking the barriers to education. They have close ties to community organizations who assist underprivileged people. These organisations are specialists in their field and provide sustainable, on-going benefits to the Cambodian community.
eOcambo Volunteers role is to bridge the gap between those who need help and those who wish to generously give their time to provide assistance in Siem Reap. They connect people with projects. While you are helping out Cambodians, they look after you. Through their efforts, they find international volunteers who wish to help without paying high agent or project fees.
What they do:
They help you to help others. All their programs are within the Siem Reap area. They provide all the on the ground organisation in Cambodia before you arrive. For example: pick up from the airport or bus station, 24-hour support while you are volunteering, transportation to and from the volunteering placement, and comfortable relaxing accommodation where you can relax and indulge after hours.
What they don’t do:
They are NOT a tour company that provides people with vacations or holidays that include a small volunteering element. They are NOT based or owned in a Western country with multiple projects all over the World. They are NOT an NGO or charity. They do not do orphanages. This is to ensure that eOcambo does not inadvertently encourage the breakup of families or the exploitation of children.
Example Volunteering Programs:
- Helping out people with disabilities – gardening, paper recycling
- School improvement program
- Teaching village school children
- Build a house
- Help provide clean water
- Install a toilet
eOcambo does not charge any fees to volunteer. The fees charged by the project organisations varying depending on the project. Fees are for material or training costs and are there to help them carry out their essential activities and continue working. Fees payable to the volunteering organisation go directly to them, eOcambo does not touch that money. eOcambo is reimbursed by people staying in their hotels while they are volunteering.
eOcambo is not paid or given any benefits by the organisations they work with. In fact, they send some of their partners a percentage of the profits made when their volunteers stay at their hotels.
