European Disaster Volunteers (EDV) is a volunteer driven, registered charity that aids disaster affected communities worldwide by providing initial relief and helping them achieve sustainable recovery.

The organization welcomes all volunteers and is unique in that you are allowed to commit whatever time you have to give. This means some volunteers come for long weekends while others stay for months. All donations go directly to the support efforts and volunteers cover their travel and living expenses. EDV works mostly within the Port au Prince area but has projects that spiral out from that base.

Volunteers are encouraged to give whatever time they have — this may mean a two days for some and several months for others.

Volunteering is free though volunteers will cover their living expenses; accommodation is provided (though you need to bring your own mattress and other specifics, see their volunteer page for details).
