FairMail is a social enterprise producing fair trade photo products. The photos on FairMail products are taken by Peruvian teenagers. You see the face, name and age of the photographer on the back of each card. FairMail offers this youth photography training, a medical fund and guidance in making their future plans. The teenagers get 50% of the profits of the sale of their own photos to finance their housing and education.
To volunteer, FairMail asks that you have at least an intermediate level of Spanish. They have the following volunteer opportunities available:
- Photography & Creativity trainer for the 10 Peruvian teenagers.
- Trainer for social habilities and personal development workshops for the teenagers.
- Graphic designer to help create a calendar, Blurb book and/or other new FairMail fairtrade products.
- Teacher Spanish/English and English/Spanish to translate during the photography lessons and give English lessons to the teenagers.
FairMail is located in Huanchaco, La Libertad, (northern) Peru. Huanchaco is an easy going fishing- and surf village nearby Trujillo (which is the 3rd biggest city of Peru). So volunteering for FairMail goes hand in hand with living a sunny (surf &) beach life.
FairMail requires that volunteers commit to a minimum period of six weeks.
There are no fees associated with volunteering. Volunteers only need to cover their own costs during their stay.
