A community-initiated school in a rural village 100km outside of Kampala, this school was founded in 2005 with the help of locals to provide a future for the children. Long-term volunteers are welcomed to teach English, alongside other skills, at the school.
The school is just one program initiated to help this community, the organization is also involved in a village savings and loan scheme, a women’s empowerment initiative, a craft project, and upland rice projects.
There is a lot of opportunity for support outside of teaching in the school as well for volunteers with skills in any of the project areas.
Contact the organization directly through their website to find out if they currently need volunteers.
Long-term volunteers are encouraged since this is a project working with children. The organization requires a minimum of 30 days — GV recommends longer.
When averaged over 4+ months, the fees come in at roughly $200 USD and covers transportation, food, and lodging.
