    Sanlaap is a development organization that works towards correction of social imbalances, which manifest in gender injustice and violence against woman and children. The organization runs a shelter, medical rehabilitation for girls we rescue from brothels, youth group, support group, and rehabilitation initiatives (in textiles). Volunteers are able to assist in these projects depending on skill levels — the organization accepts help in everything from the medical program and mental health services program, to teaching and playing with the children.

Since then, all programs put the money earned back into the community through projects such as providing winter clothes to children and improvements to the village schools. The organization’s main teaching center encourages minority people to participate more fully and equitably in the tourist economy of Sapa and the surrounding area.
