El Puente—The Bridge is an organization started by an American couple with the intent to help the indigenous people surrounding Puerto Viejo de Talamanca on the Caribbean shore in Costa Rica. These people, the Bribri people, live drastically under the poverty line. The organizations works directly with the locals on a range of projects; volunteers are able to provide help in a huge range of niche skills.

Sambhali Trust
Jodhpur, India
Sambhali Trust provides underprivileged Rajasthani women and girls with educational, vocational, and social skills to help them to become confident and financially independent. There are actually 11 different initiatives benefiting women & girls that fall under the “Sambhali Trust” umbrella. Most are based out of the city of Jodhpur in India, but two take place in the rural desert village of Setrawa. Key initiatives are empowerment centers, where women & girls come to learn English as well as learn to sew and embroider. The empowerment centers also offer different workshops such as drama and computer skills.
