Bloom Microventures, a non-profit social business, offers socially-responsible poverty-fighting day tours (microfinance tours) to marginalized communities in the developing world. Tours are conducted in a small village outside of Hanoi. All tour members will visit the recipient of the microloan their tour fee is funding.
How it works:
- Sign up for a microfinance tour
- Travel with staff off the beaten path to meet hardworking entrepreneurs and learn about their plans to enhance their businesses and livelihoods that will help them escape from poverty.
- After the tour, the fees paid for the tour are disbursed as a microloan to the entrepreneurs you have interacted with, ultimately providing stepping stones for the entrepreneurs and the community to escape poverty.
- Follow the progress and loan repayments of the entrepreneurs you met through their online project center.
Join-in tours are available on Saturdays from 8am to 6pm. Private tours can also be arranged.
As of 2015, price is $75 for adults, $60 for students and $30 for children under 7. They prefer US dollars or Vietnamese dong, but can also accept bank transfers (no credit cards).
