Iraq al Amir Guesthouse

Run by the Iraq Al-Amir Women Cooperative Society, a social enterprise 45 minutes outside of Amma, Jordan, this guesthouse offers travelers a truly local stay in a rural village, an incredible breakfast, and the chance to participate in any of the Cooperative’s handicraft and cooking workshops.

The guesthouse offers both shared and private rooms through Airbnb—a 4-bed dorm, a twin private. The included breakfast takes at the women’s co-op just one minute walk away from the guesthouse and it’s not only tasty, but a great chance to learn more about this social enterprise and all it’s doing to impact the lives and livelihoods of local women.

The Iraq Al-Amir Women Cooperative Society provides training projects for more than 150 women living in the villages of Wadi Seer. The Handicraft Village runs several different workshops for tourists that help the women preserve their craft heritage, share cultural knowledge with visitors, and allow travelers to leave with a hand-made, local souvenir.
