Mekong Quilts (Hoi An)

Founded in 2001, Mekong Quilts operates as an income generation project in conjunction with their parent NGO, Mekong Plus. These shops across Southeast Asia sell beautiful quilts made by women in poor and rural communities.

Mekong Quilts employs women in communities northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. They also expanded to offer employment opportunities to Cambodian women through Mekong Quilts.

Mekong Plus uses the profits from the sale of the quilts to reinvest right back into the communities where these women live. Some projects include: scholarships for children, agricultural training, micro-finance programmes, etc. As a result, not only does tourism provide sustainable employment to women, but the profits from the sale of the quilts also benefit the poor communities in which they live.

They have multiple locations around the city, and around the region, so check their website for further specifics.
