Sanon is a social enterprise located in Nyaung U, Bagan that runs as a Burmese and Tapas restaurant. Providing vocational training to marginalised youth in the Burmese community, the restaurant gives opportunity for work to those in the training programs.
This NGO consulted with Friends-International in the early stages of development to put together a top notch training program and restaurant using the best standards for both. Now, it changes the lives of disadvantaged youth by offering hospitality training in Myanmar’s growing tourism sector.
Sanon Restaurant serves a tapas-style menu of creative cuisine and truly traditional dishes, as well as refreshing smoothies and cocktails. The setting is charming, but the staff are the true treat here. Stop in to experience one of Bagan’s first social enterprise restaurants—and if you’re keen to learn some cooking skills too, the restaurant also offers cooking classes for tourists interested in learning more about Burmese cuisine.
