The Education for Development Foundation (EDF) ensures that children are given the education they deserve. The foundation works in Northern (Issan) Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. The people behind EDF believe that childen, especially those in poverty-stricken areas, are entitled to equal opportunities for education.
Volunteering with EDF offers the opportunity to teach English to children at their local school and at the same time work on their school grounds – painting the walls of the school or doing carpentry jobs. Health education classes are also taught to the villagers.
Aside from these, there are other volunteer positions available at EDF: fundraisers, PR volunteers, copywriters, proofreaders and translators.
Duration
Contact for specific needs, but very flexible. Needed volunteer positions are listed on their site and are updated a couple times each year.
Other Ways You Can Help
There are a lot of ways to be able to help EDF non-profit. Donations for scholarships and emergency relief funds are very much welcome. You may also buy their charity greeting cards and the proceeds of which will go directly to EDF.
