New dream of Cambodian Children

New Dream of Cambodian Children Organisation (NDCCO) is non-profit organisation founded in 2018 to fight illiteracy, poverty, and malnutrition. NDCCO is the vision and work of one man: Kimlean Veoun. They provide free education, school meals and community support to underprivileged children and families living outside Siem Reap.

NDCCO focuses on recruiting skilled volunteers to assist with their ongoing development towards a sustainable organisation and welcome people from all backgrounds over 21 years old. Volunteering at NDCCO is an extremely rewarding experience, however, it can also be very challenging. But, if you are enthusiastic, committed and have a flexible attitude everything will be fine!

NDCCO only accepts volunteers with relevant experience or training in teaching English. While, obviously, you have to speak English fluently, you do not have to be a native speaker. However, you must be enthusiastic, committed and have a flexible attitude. Patience and a smiley happy attitude will take you a long way in Cambodia!

Before you start working as a volunteer, you will be asked to sign our code of conduct and NDCCO will always do a background check on the volunteers as it is part of their child protection policy. As a volunteer teacher you will assist the Khmer teachers with the day-to-day lessons under their supervision. And if you are staying for a few weeks you will also take the lead by teaching your own lessons specifically aimed at listening and speaking skills.

Volunteers are encouraged to come up with games, competitions, role-play, and stories about yourself and your life at home in order to provoke curiosity, promote interaction and engage students in fun lessons. And if you are up to it you can also set up arts, crafts and sports activities.

Duration
NDCCO accepts volunteers from 1 day to up to 3 months. Longer durations are possible subject to visa requirements and can be discussed after you arrive. NDDCO can assist you with the necessary paperwork to obtain an extended visa if you wish to undertake a long term commitment. The school operates Monday to Friday so volunteers are free to explore the local countryside and attractions on the weekends.
Fees
No fees or remuneration. Volunteers cover their own travel, visa, accommodation and living costs. However, to try and make your experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, NDCCO do offer volunteers the following:
  • free airport pickup and transfer
  • discount price for tuk-tuk drive to and from your accommodation
  • recommendations to a few selected guesthouses with special discount prices for volunteers
  • valuable advice and trip organisation, they can even tailor any trip to suit your requirements
  • a rewarding experience and a lot of memories!
