Sangkheum Center for Children

The Sangkheum Center for Children was established as a project with the main objective of preventing the increase of street children in Siem Reap. The main goal of the volunteer program is to develop the capacity of the Khmer staff in their direct work with the children.

Volunteers will predominantly be working with designated staff in planning and performing various volunteer activities and all volunteers must be aged 25 and above. Volunteers should have professional experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Social Work
  • Health Education
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy

Shorter term volunteers may help with:

  • Administration
  • Accounting
  • Research
  • Website Development
  • Graphic Design

Volunteers must also submit to a criminal background check. The dynamic makes volunteer support more effective and advances the program in the long-term, as well as strengthen the knowledge of the teachers at Sangkheum Center for Children.

Duration
90 day minimum for teaching, though longer stays are appreciated. Some shorter placements can be arranged to help with tech, computers, or office work.
Fees
Volunteering is free but all transportation, food, and lodging must be arranged by the volunteer.
